O'Leary Curling has Championship Chops

O'Leary Curling put together a great 2015-2016 Season.
We had two Curling teams representing Archbishop O'Leary this year at the Ottewell Curling Club in the Edmonton Metro League. The Girls’ Team finished second in their pool with 4 wins and only 1 loss; the Mixed Team also finished second in Pool B with a 4 and 1 record after a three way tie breaking procedure for first place was applied.
In the City Finals played at the Jasper Place Curling Club, a huge CONGRATULATIONS goes to our Mixed Team as they went on to defeat Archbishop Macdonald by a convincing score of 9 - 3 to capture the Division 2 CITY CHAMPIONSHIP Banner.

In February, the ASAA Edmonton Metro Zone play downs were held at the Ottewell Curling Club. Both of our teams did our school extremely proud as the GIRLS’ team finished in second place. It was a heart breaking finish as they were defeated in the finals by John Paul II by one point in an extra end.

The Edmonton Zone final game for our Mixed team also went into a nerve racking extra end with our Spartans coming up victorious against Sturgeon to capture the Gold medal, another Metro Zone Banner, and the right to represent Edmonton at the ASAA Provincials in Ponoka on March 3-4-5, 2016.

They proved themselves and showed our Spartan pride at Provincials where they just came up short in the final game of their pool edged out by one point to be eliminated from the medal round of play.
